Crewed yacht charter
In addition to our historical tours and cruises, we also arrange crewed yacht charters for private groups, large and small. We work with a range of gulets all hand crafted from wood in Turkey and manned by experienced local crews.

The gulet Almira
On most of our scheduled gulet cruises we sail aboard the luxurious Almira, one of the best constructed and equipped yachts of its kind. Handmade in Turkey from pine from the Taurus Mountains and mahogany, it follows a design developed for these waters in Byzantine times. She is stylish, graceful, and bursting with character.

Life on board
On most itineraries gulets cruise for an average of three hours a day, generally by motor to keep to schedule, under glorious sail when weather and time permits. While many gulets are designed solely as motor cruisers, all the gulets we use are proper sailing vessels. There are plenty of opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, and more active water sports, like windsurfing.

Turkish delight - food aboard
Our mealtime panoramas vary from secluded coves to old fishing villages. All food is prepared on board by our chef in the gulet's galley, who conjures up a variety of fresh local delicacies. The food in Turkey is ranked as one of the three finest cuisines in the world, and justifiably so.

Breakfast typically consists of bread, tomatoes, olives, cheese, eggs, yoghurt and honey. Lunch and dinner are usually one or two main courses, accompanied by salads and mezes, followed by fruit.

Very drinkable Turkish wines (the grapes of Asia Minor were famed in antiquity) are stocked on board, along with a range of spirits, beers, soft drinks and fruit juices.

History of the gulet
The word 'gulet' probably derives from the French goulette, or schooner. These two-masted wooden vessels, usually made from local pine, were long used for transport and fishing along the southern coasts of Turkey. Typically designed with a sharp bow, broad beam and rounded aft, these days they are designed and fitted with comfort and not trade in mind.
