Booking Conditions
Please read these carefully as holiday bookings are accepted only in accordance with the terms and conditions set out below.
Contract & legal
From the time we receive your initial payment and completed booking form, a contract exists between you and Peter Sommer Travels. The booking and contract with you is subject to English law. All proceedings shall be settled within the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Payments
A deposit of £400 per person is required upon reservation. Your booking is confirmed from the date confirmation is sent to you of receipt of your booking form and deposit. The balance of the cost must be paid at least 8 weeks before the scheduled start. If booking 8 weeks or less from the scheduled start, payment must be made in full. If after paying your initial deposit you do not pay the balance of the cost of the holiday 8 weeks before departure, Peter Sommer Travels reserves the right to cancel your booking.
Eligibility & health/fitness
We reserve the right to refuse to take a booking without necessarily giving a reason for our refusal. You must be fit and well to take part in our tours. They involve a significant amount of walking and some scrambling over rough terrain on archaeological sites, which are frequently rugged and with loose rocks underfoot. Your fitness must be of a level that will not spoil other guests’ enjoyment of the trip by slowing them down or inconveniencing them. It is the responsibility of the individual tour members to decide whether they are medically fit and able to undertake the tours. You can contact us for further advice.
Passports
It is your responsibility to ensure that your papers, passport etc. are in order. You will need a passport which does not expire less than six months after the end of your holiday.
Insurance
It is a requirement of the booking that you have sufficient holiday insurance. Comprehensive cover for medical treatment, repatriation, cancellation charges, and property loss must be part of the policy.
Cancellation by you
If you wish to cancel your booking you must do so in writing. You will then be subject to the following cancellation charges:
More than 56 days before departure: Deposit only
56-37 days prior to departure: 50% of the total cost
36-22 days prior to departure: 75% of the total cost
21 days or less prior to departure: 100% of the total cost
We consider the cancellation day to be that on which we receive written confirmation of your cancellation. Where a refund is payable there will be an admin fee of £30 per person.
Changes or cancellations by us
Peter Sommer Travels will make every effort to operate the specially arranged tours according to the descriptions and itineraries described in the brochure, but reserves the right to alter any arrangement of the tour should it become necessary or advisable, without penalty. Most changes are minor but occasionally we have to make a significant change, in which case we will notify you as soon as possible and try to arrange a satisfactory alternative. If the change represents a significant loss to the tour we will offer compensation. If the alternative we offer is not acceptable and you decide to cancel your booking we will offer a full refund. If there are insufficient bookings to make a tour viable with not less than 8 weeks to go before departure, Peter Sommer Travels reserves the right to cancel a tour and any booking with a full refund. Peter Sommer Travels does not accept responsibility for cancellation or changes in the tour for reasons beyond its control - ‘force majeure’, such as (but not limited to) terrorist activities, civil unrest, closure of airports, technical problems with transport, adverse weather conditions, strikes, and all similar events whether these events are threatened or actual.
Tour cost
Peter Sommer Travels reserves the right to increase the price of a tour in the event of any increase in such costs as transportation and fuel, fees, taxes, or exchange rates. Only if the amount of the increase in our costs exceeds 2% of the total cost of your tour will we levy a surcharge. If this results in an increase of more than 15% of the holiday price you will be entitled to cancel your holiday with a full refund of all monies paid. The price of the holiday will not change 30 days or less prior to departure. We reserve the right to amend or correct advertised prices at any time. Changes and errors can sometimes occur, so please check the price of your tour at the time of booking.
Complaints
In the unlikely event you have reason to complain, you must inform our tour leader or representative immediately who will do all possible to resolve the matter. If you remain dissatisfied any verbal notification must be confirmed in writing as soon as possible, and within 28 days after the completion of a tour giving full details of your complaint. If something does go wrong we will do our best to put it right. We strive to ensure you are satisfied with our services.
Client conduct
You accept responsibility for the proper conduct of yourself and any or all other members of your group. We reserve the right in our reasonable discretion to terminate your holiday or that of any member of your group whose conduct is considered to be disruptive or detrimental to the enjoyment of other guests, in which case Peter Sommer Travels shall have no further responsibility or liability to you.
Liability
Peter Sommer Travels is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, delay, or irregularity arising from negligence by any third party or the negligence of his customers. Because the airline travel component of your trip is not paid to us, repatriation will not be provided. Care and diligence have been exercised in the making of the tour arrangements, but Peter Sommer Travels cannot be held responsible for a failure of sub-contracted ancillary services.

We have no connection with any airline and suggest making reservations with our flight specialists.
