Win a Cultural Gulet Cruise in Turkey!

Peter Sommer Travels teamed up with Current World Archaeology magazine and the Turkish Culture & Tourism Office to offer two lucky people the chance to indulge in an expert led cultural tour and gulet cruise, Cruising Western Lycia, September 25th - October 2nd, 2010. 

Our Western Lycia gulet holiday starts at the pretty harbour of Göcek, just 30 minutes from Dalaman airport, on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, and is led by Cambridge University Classicist and archaeologist Dr Nigel Spivey.

Highlights include a visit to Xanthus, the great capital of ancient Lycia, whose magnificent treasures caused an extraordinary stir when they were brought to the British Museum, and a visit of Gemiler Island resplendent with its avenue of Byzantine churches. International flights have been generously provided by the Turkish Culture & Tourism Office in London.

The deadline for entries is midnight on Friday, July 30, 2010. Only one submission is allowed per entrant.

The winners will be announced on our website, by email newsletter, and in Current World Archaeology magazine.

What is included: Full board accommodation on gulet (including all mineral water, teas and coffees), return flights, road transfers, harbour fees, all crew services, entrance fees and gratuities on land, daily site excursions accompanied by an expert. Cabin accommodation is either twin or double and we will do our utmost to provide you with your preference but this cannot be guaranteed. Maximum group size is 16.

What is not included: Visas (£10 per person), travel insurance, soft & alcoholic drinks (there is a reasonably priced bar on board) and gratuities on the boat (it is customary to tip the crew at the end of the tour).

Personal Requirements: You must be aged 18 or over. You must hold a valid passport which does not expire less than 6 months after the end of the holiday, and have comprehensive travel insurance to cover the trip. You must be fit and well and able to travel by plane and gulet and be able to walk across rough terrain to visit remote archaeological sites.

Flight: Flight details will be confirmed to you and cannot be altered. We will do our utmost to ensure departure is from an airport close to you but this cannot be guaranteed.

Winner Notification: The prize must be accepted as offered and is non-transferable. There will be no alternative awards, cash or otherwise.
