CULTURAL FAMILY HOLIDAYS
I’ve just returned from leading our first family Turkey tour of the year. Superb swimming, flower clad landscapes, picnics on ancient temples. On top of that there was the clean fresh air, stunning vistas, and the kind of relaxation that comes with an onboard cook preparing delicious tasty food while you lie back and gaze at the horizon, or read a book, or play a game.

What better way for children to develop a passion for the past than to experience history where it was made - over 2,000 years ago. How can you possibly beat learning about the Greeks and Romans than on some of their very best preserved sites, in Turkey - performing in the orchestra of a marble seated theatre, walking along colonnaded streets on the way to the forum, exploring the Roman houses, decked out with mosaics and frescoes, only recently opened to the public in Ephesus.

Here’s what a British family on our recent Sailing to Ephesus family trip in Turkey had to say:
“Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday - it surpassed all expectations. The gulet Almira and her crew provided first class luxurious service, the surroundings were stunning, and of course, the locations and presentation of the history were the highlight of the tour.” Jane Jenkins.

TURKISH RECIPE OF THE MONTH
This month for your delectation we present one of the absolute classic dishes found right across Turkey. We often serve them on our gulet cruises in Turkey, and they are one of Rebecca’s (Peter’s daughter) favourites, as well as being much loved by our guests.

They are simple yet satisfying, crispy and comforting. They are of course sigara borek - small cyclindrical rolls of filo pastry, stuffed with white cheese and parsley, and served piping hot as a mouthwatering meze.
