NEWS FOR 2010
This has been an incredibly busy and exciting autumn for us. Our website has been completely re-designed. Many people told us how much they liked our previous website, but we think it is even better now, with bigger, clearer visuals and text, and a smoother navigation system that uses a rather swish colour coded system to distinguish the destinations we visit. So you can now navigate more easily to discover our tours in Turkey, tours in Greece, and tours in Italy. We still have lots to do to improve it further and welcome your feedback!
Not only do we have a new website, we also have a brand new reservations system and database - a rather clever and nifty tool that will make us all the more efficient and ensure our customer service becomes even better.
Many of you will have been in touch with Ewan, our office manager, either by email or on the phone. He has now relocated with his family to Plymouth, having done a sterling job managing our database handover. We are delighted to welcome Julie to our team as our new Office and Operations Manager. She is enthusiastic about the role and is looking forward to improving the way we operate and helping you in any way she can.
2010 BROCHURE
We know we’ve been keeping you waiting on tenterhooks, but we’re pleased to say that our new brochure is now finished and is being printed right now. If you are on our mailing list you should receive a copy very soon. If you’re not sure if you’re on our mailing list and wish to be added, or have moved and want to update your details, please contact us. In the meantime you can catch a first glimpse on our website. Sit back and flip through the pages of our
online travel brochure.
2010 TOURS
Details of all our tours in Turkey, Greece and Italy for next year are now live on our website. We’re delighted that bookings are already significantly up on last year, which was in itself a great year for Peter Sommer Travels. A number of our trips are already filling up. We have for example just 1 cabin remaining on our Cruising to Ephesus tour in Turkey, June 12-19.
SICILY
We have been overwhelmed by the interest in our escorted Italy tours. At last we have all the details assembled and are happy to take bookings. These trips are absolutely unique. No one else is offering anything remotely similar. This is your chance to join a small group of no more than 12 guests and cruise along the coast of Sicily on a beautiful wooden gulet, in the company of an expert guide. We are delighted to offer you the first opportunity to come on one of these exceptional tours:
Sailing the Sicilian Shore Sat Sep 4 - Sat Sep 18
Cruising by Etna Sat Sep 18 - Sat Sep 25
WHAT ARE OUR TOURS LIKE?
If you’ve not yet been on one of our trips and want to know what they are all about, we think this quote from Suzie Turner who came on our Walking and Sailing tour in Turkey, sums them up very well:
“The combination of sailing, walking through fascinating archaeological sites, meeting friendly Turkish villagers, swimming in warm clear waters and being fed delicious healthy Turkish food in good company - is just a winner. It is the best holiday we have ever had. Many thanks for your meticulous attention to our comfort.” Suzie Turner, NSW, Australia
WEDDING BELLS
One small, but very important piece of personal news. Peter is getting married! Many of you will have already met Elin, his partner, on one of our tours. After 10 years, Peter finally decided it was about time he drop to one knee and ask her to marry him. Fortunately she said yes!
They will be getting hitched in a beautiful old 17th century mansion in Wales on February 13th next year.
TESTIMONIALS AND FEEDBACK
2009 was a marvellous year for us with more tours, guests, and private charters than ever before. We were pleased to welcome back many previous guests and see many new faces. Thank you all for taking the time to complete our questionnaires. We’ve taken your feedback onboard and will continue to try and improve our holidays and service ever more.
We greatly appreciate the testimonials that you have sent in. You can read a raft of new ones on the testimonials page on our website.
RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Having dabbled in Greek waters for the recipe in our last newsletter, we thought we’d return to Turkey for our brand new tasty treat. It’s one of our absolute favourites, a delicious meze that is at the top of our list whenever we eat out. Visit our website for the mouth-watering classic that is şakşuka.
You can expect more Greek (and Sicilian) recipes in future. If there are any particular dishes you have enjoyed on our trips, and would like to know the recipe for, please let us know.
