Outside courtyard of the Monastey of St John
The ancient monastery of St. John the Divine on Patmos is a labyrinth of chapels, churches, monk's cells and various functional rooms, arranged around an incredibly serene inner courtyard, overshadowed by its striking 17th century buttress arches. This small central space gives access to the various parts of the still functioning monastery and its great library and museum, which is one of the many thought-provoking sights on the Peter Sommer Travels cultural cruise of the Southern Dodecanese.
