Sail in the Bodrum Cup Regatta in Turkey! Join in as part of the crew on this celebrated gulet race that takes place each autumn.

Sign up for this unique tour – an archaeological cruise aboard a traditional Turkish gulet – but with a difference. You’ll be helping to sail… under the expert guidance of the boat’s crew.

For the first week you’ll literally be learning the ropes – getting a feel for the boat and getting actively involved. Then in the second week you’ll be taking part in the celebrated Bodrum Cup Regatta – a 5 day race featuring over 100 classic wooden yachts (Turkish gulets) – a truly stunning spectacle. During the regatta, half a day is spent sailing, while the other half is given over to relaxation or cultural adventures.

This tour combines all the great highlights of our standard gulet cruises – beautiful food (lunches are more basic to allow for the sailing), superb swimming opportunities, and spectacular landscapes.

If taking part in the Bodrum Cup weren’t enough, one of our expert guides will be onboard to personally escort you back in time into Turkey’s ancient past. The itinerary on this trip will be fluid and flexible – harnessing the wind and sailing is our priority.

This is a previous tour itinerary. However, we can offer it as a private tour. Please see our Gulet Charters page for more information.

Day 1: Our boat is about 30 minutes from Dalaman airport at Göcek, a pretty harbour on the Bay of Fethiye, on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Welcome dinner on board.

Day 2-10: We head west along Turkey’s Mediterranean shore. Our journey takes us along the southern coast of Caria, studded with dynamic and influential cities back in Greek and Roman times. We spend the day exploring Halicarnassus, site of one of the seven wonders of the world, with a special visit to the Crusader Castle of St. Peter, now one of the world’s best museums of underwater archaeology. A chance to do some shopping.
