About Peter Sommer Travels
In 1994, Peter Sommer walked 2,000 miles across Turkey, retracing the route of Alexander the Great, and in the process fell in love with the country, its ancient civilizations, and the Turkish people. A British archaeologist, filmmaker, and tour guide, Peter created Peter Sommer Travels in 1996, offering unique escorted tours and gulet cruises.
Peter personally leads a large number of our archaeological tours in Turkey. We also work with a number of other superb archaeologists and historians, noted for their knowledge and communication skills, who lead our gulet cruises and tours in Turkey, Greece, and Italy. We are delighted to have Dr. Michael Metcalfe as part of our inner team. Michael left his University post in 2009 to join us full time and direct his boundless energy into creating and leading new tours and gulet cruises in Turkey, Greece and Italy.
