Gulet Charters in Turkey led by Experts

Cruising along the spectacular coast of Turkey simply has to be experienced to be believed. The country’s long shoreline is a near-endless succession of memorable and beautiful sights to behold: rugged peninsulas, sparkling bays, remote beaches, tiny offshore islets, little port villages and vibrant harbour towns form the ever-changing backdrop to the voyage. And wherever you go, there are fascinating historical and archaeological sites waiting to be explored nearby. If what you are looking for is a truly relaxing journey, with the freedom to set your own pace and chart your own course to the ancient sites and welcoming harbours of Turkey, then our Turkish gulet charters are a perfect fit.

While our scheduled gulet tours in Turkey offer a mixture of exploration and relaxation focusing on particular regions or experiences, the key feature of our gulet charters in Turkey is the freedom and flexibility they entail you choose where your holiday will take you and what experiences it will bring; the whole of the Turkish coastline becomes a canvas for your ideal gulet journey. Our Turkish gulets are fully-crewed, fully-stocked, and ready to welcome you. All they are waiting for is your direction.

The trip was fantastic and we all had a great time. I believe everyone was very pleased that they joined the customised land tour as well as the gulet charter in Turkey. Many, many thanks for all your help in putting it together over such a long period of time. The holiday was flawless.

Discovering Turkey

Cruising along the Turkish shores on a Peter Sommer Travels’ gulet charter is a joy from beginning to end. Beyond the sheer beauty of the passing scenery, other pleasures include the many opportunities to swim, snorkel or simply bask in the clear blue waters of the Aegean or Mediterranean, ample time to relax, sunbathe, read or just chat on the deck of your stylish boat, and of course the superb meals prepared by the on-board chef from selected fresh ingredients throughout your tour.

Another key part of the experience, for those eager to explore, are the many options for land excursions – a chance to marvel at the wealth of ancient sites and cities scattered along those shore. All of our gulet charters in Turkey are accompanied by our expert guides and local specialists, there to bring to life the history and culture of the places you visit.

There are many possible itineraries for you to choose from. You can spend a relaxing week along the untouched and verdant Carian Coast of Turkey, including visits to spectacular ancient sites like grandiose twin-harboured Knidos, or off the-beaten track ones like the stupendous seaside fortress of Loryma, reachable only by boat. Further north, on the shore of Ionia, you could explore a string of world-famous ancient cities, including the vast Roman city of Ephesus, the extraordinarily well-preserved ancient Greek town of Priene, or the mountain sanctuary of Labraunda. In the South, you can also travel along the Lycian coast, discovering its spectacular scenery, lovely seaside villages and the mysterious remains left behind by the ancient Lycians.

The gulet was gorgeous, even better than expected. Thanks so much to the captain and crew who were so attentive.

Chartering a Gulet

Although vast numbers of Turkish gulets are available for charter, the range of vessels we use is restricted to our selection of the finest boats available, carefully maintained and operated by expert crews to ensure the standard of comfort and quality that we expect and that you deserve. All our gulets are lovingly handcrafted in Turkey according to traditional techniques, and equipped with state-of the-art navigational technology. The gulets we use come in various sizes and are thus able to cater for groups ranging between two and 24 guests, with options for large, double or twin cabins.

The enjoyment of a gulet cruise hinges on the quality of the boat’s crew. Their standard of service is one of the central criteria in our choice of boats: we work with some of the most highly experienced captains, finest cooks and most attentive teams available. Along with our tour experts, they will make your trip an unforgettably enjoyable one.

Peter Sommer Travels provided us an unparalleled opportunity to explore Turkey from ancient to modern times. The tremendous beauty of the natural setting combined with the knowledge and expertise of the guide made for an unforgettable adventure! The gulet’s accommodations and elegance – including the sumptuous meals and opportunities to swim or explore on kayak or windsurf – made a relaxing and reviving base, too. We will never forget this trip… And are already planning another one!

Cost

Each expert-led private charter is tailor-made specifically for you, and is created from a great variety of options and add-ons. The price of such a charter can therefore vary greatly depending on your precise desires and requirements. As such, the following is only a general guide, but it will give you some idea of the price range involved.

In 2017, the price for a 1-week cruise on one of our scheduled expert-led gulet tours in Turkey is £2,365 per person.

Generally speaking the larger the group the less expensive a charter becomes per person. The cost for a party of eight people or more is normally slightly less than our scheduled tour prices. If you have a party of 12 or more you’ll start to see substantial discounts on our scheduled tour prices per person.

This price includes: full board accommodation on the gulet, fuel for 4 hours cruising per day, crew services, harbour fees in Turkish waters, VAT, airport transfers, the services of two of our expert guides, entrance fees to sites, transfers to sites, gratuities on land, all mineral water, teas and coffees, and wine with dinner.

This price does not include: flights, airport taxes, visas, travel insurance, cruising taxes and harbour dues and marina fees outside of Turkish waters, gratuities for the crew (we recommend a gratuity of £8 per client per day), and drinks not included in “This quoted price includes” (there is a reasonably priced bar on board).

A Tailor-Made Experience

It is our passion for Turkey’s past that has made Peter Sommer Travels what it is. Years of experience and personal hand-on exploration of the sites, combined with in-depth research in some of the world’s key archaeological and historical libraries provide our team with an unparalleled level of knowledge, spanning the geography, history, art and architecture of this fascinating country – but also its traditions, its landscapes and its cuisine.

Why not take advantage of our expertise to help you design the perfect holiday in Turkey. Gulet charters can be either completely planned (weather depending) or left as a more flexible outline for you to shape on a day by day basis. Your interests, needs and preferences are the core of the trip. You can choose your own experience, whether you prefer discovering bustling ports, exploring ancient sites, or simply relaxing at anchor in a seldom-visited cove, away from modern lights and noise.

Thanks so much for a wonderfully interesting and enjoyable holiday in Turkey… Catering excellent on boat. Gulet crew was terrific. Great mix of education and pleasure. Overall, a five-star, wonderful experience…We appreciated your personal thoughtfulness, Peter, and attention to detail. I would change very little if I were you!

The Sailing Season

Turkish gulet charters are available from April until the end of October. Spring and October constitute the low season. For July and August, gulets tend to be booked up well in advance, so we suggest that you contact us about your itineraries and intentions as soon as possible.
