Turkish tours travel news

Dr. Michael Metcalfe joins Peter Sommer Travels

Please welcome Dr. Michael Metcalfe, who joined our team in the New Year. Michael has led a number of cultural tours in Turkey for us and received rapturous praise.

An expert on ancient Greece, Michael can decipher an ancient inscription at 10 paces (nearly). He resigned his lecturing post at an American University in Sicily to direct his boundless energy into creating and leading archaeological tours and historical holidays for us in Turkey, Greece and Italy.

Speaking Greek, Italian, and Turkish, he is perfectly qualified to take us into new travel arenas. He is currently researching a couple of new expert led vacations:

In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great: in Greece. Discover the origins of the man and the legend, on a journey from Athens to Vergina, Thessaloniki to Pella. A perfect compliment to our Alexander tour in Turkey.

The Ancient Wonders of Sicily. A tour of this magnificent Italian island, packed with mighty and majestic temples, and beautiful landscapes, not to mention delicious food. Naturally, it is led by the ideal guide: Michael. He knows the island and its sites inside out (he lives there) and speaks the language.

We’d love to get your thoughts on these trips, or suggestions on other itineraries you would like us to create. What tours would you like to do?

Please feel free to contact Michael directly
